Consumer Reports has a new security tool available online for free. Their information is tailored to our individual online uses and behavior. Simply click on the devices and methods you use and the site provides helpful links for improving your safety and online security.
To evaluate the site, I clicked on each option available for the most information returned. They make recommendations based on urgency and personal security first, then privacy and identity protection. Part of what they consider urgent is having your physical locations visible online. Please search online now for any information that reveals your address. Lock down your privacy settings on any apps you use on your devices and turn OFF location sharing.
Their social media instructions and links to limit information sharing are also very helpful. Consumer Reports also includes many more categories of data sharing risks and allows searches by free and paid resources.
