When military spouses have had enough, drastic things happen. When it’s time to step out with your story to protect your family, privacy takes a back seat. I applaud these families who walked out into the public arena to fight for their families’ safety.
I’ve spent the last 15 years trying to stay below the public radar because of my husband’s career. It’s why I devote so much time to preserving our privacy. If we ever need to go public with something at least I can be more comfortable knowing that anyone seeing our names can’t show up at home or work to chat about it. Finding yourself in a news story isn’t always a choice, either. The photos from LinkedIn and Facebook profiles that become part of the story… or even the entire story demonstrate that every day. At that point, it’s too late to worry about your privacy settings.
