When A Stranger Decides To Destroy Your Life
In today’s world of public comment and conversation in social media, it definitely pays NOT to use your correct name in your online profiles. Many people like Monika Glennon have careers and work for companies that post their names and photos in marketing campaigns. In the last school where I taught 7th grade, they required teachers to have a website with a photo. I gave them my 7th grade school picture. True story. I would have quit the job rather than give a current photo of myself for their website. When a crazy person wants to ruin you, they will use anything publicly available about you to do it.
It’s time to change your social media accounts to reduce the chance that this can happen. Change your profile name. Remove the profile and public pictures of you that clearly show your face and your family. Delete all bio information with your kids’ names, for sure. Don’t make it easy for someone to target you. PerSec is worth it.
